Bruce Yeagle Responds to Letters to the Editor

Don’t be misled ...

Fred Nichols was the chosen candidate in the May primary when he won the lone spot for Windham Township Supervisor on the ballot for the Nov 6th election.

Fred Nichols had served honorably as a Windham Township Supervisor when he was appointed to that position in 1998. However, recent letters from Anita Fardelmann and Richard Dockwell allege that Nichols worked against the common good and best interest of Windham residents. Another statement was that he can not possibly act with objectivity and an open mind.

These, and other unfounded allegations, are without merit.

Nichols is a candidate with professional experience essential to working for sound fiscal management. He is a decorated Army Vietnam veteran with over 25 years Army Combat Engineer training in all aspects of road construction, planning, maintenance, and equipment. He is an advocate for open government with fair and equal consideration for all Township residents. His election on Nov 6th as Windham Township Supervisor will advance those goals.

Windham residents do wish to forget the past and move on. This becomes impossible when Fardelmann and Dockwell persist in putting forth their one-sided version of events which happened years ago and in which Dept. 19 is always the scapegoat. Windham Township Volunteer Fire Department 19 provided 33 years of reputable fire protection for Windham Township along with accepting responsibility for finances and maintenance of the community hall.

A recently published arbitration decision will give Dept. 19 money sought for the injustice of a broken lease contract and highlights Dept. 19’s side of a very long story.

Fardelmann and Dockwell solicit write-in votes for Pat O’Connor, the failed primary supervisor candidate. While we have no doubt that O’Connor is a reputable man, allegations of his recent service to the community may be questioned. He is no longer an EMT with Windham Ambulance and no longer attends Windham Community Church. Work on developing the NEBALL facility and promoting the area’s Little League program was a joint effort of many similarly involved parents.

With no training, O’Connor joined the Windham Community Fire Department 28 only after he became their favored candidate for township supervisor in the spring of 2007. O’Connor had not previously shown interest in the operation of Windham Township nor been involved in its politics. Only after becoming a candidate this past Spring has he attended a few Township meetings.

Windham Township residents made Fred Nichols their choice for Supervisor in the May Primary. Fred is his own man. Your vote for Fred Nichols on Nov 6th will be a vote for progress and a better future.
